History

On January 27, 1982, Mary Ann Massoli, Sam Robbins, and Ellen Hess invited interested area quilters to join them in organizing a new quilt guild that became Quintessential Quilters (QQ). Thirty people braved the cold to attend that first meeting held at the Ohio Federal Bank in Dublin, Ohio. In January 1986, the meetings moved to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, and in late 2003 we moved to Mountview Baptist Church. In September 2012, the meetings moved to Covenant Baptist Church, 5100 Dierker Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.

The goal of the guild is to welcome quilters of all ages and skill levels promoting quilting and providing fellowship and educational opportunities for its members.

Over the years, the guild has made many group quilts which we raffle and donate a portion of the proceeds to a local or national charity. QQ also has had an ongoing relationship with “Choices” a local women’s domestic abuse shelter. Since 1995, hundreds of quilts have been made and given to individuals who seek this shelter’s assistance.

The members of QQ organized and presented their first quilt show in October 1999 at Beightler Armory. Our second show was held in June 2002 at the Liberty Presbyterian Church, north of Powell.  The most recent show was held in June 2019 in Westerville.
